Complete Flute Sonatas from the Manuscripts

This edition, divided into 27 volumes printed with great care, presents to the public 110 Soli di Federico, among which 105 of the 121 cataloged by Spitta in 1889. Each volume is enriched by an introduction by Barthold Kuijken on Frederick the Great and from one of Ugo Piovano on the suns and editorial issues.

The whole is completed by a critical apparatus that reports all the variants of the manuscripts compared to the published text. Ugo Piovano has almost always chosen as the reference text that reported in the copies "pour le nouveau Palais" because they were made on the basis of those previously made "pour Potsdam" and usually correct errors, are more complete and have some compositional rethinks. In some cases, however, the older version was preferred as the later copy was less accurate.
